Please read directions completely before attempting your repair.
This kit is not recommended for use with grout congruent to unpolished stone, brick or other porous materials. Use only on grout around ceramic tile, porcelain tile, polished stone, or other non-porous material.
CLEAN THE SURFACE
While the Grout ReColor Kit can color right overtop of most rust, mold, and mildew stains, the recolor compound may last longer and require fewer coverage coats if the area is cleaned as best as possible before re-coloring. Any standard mild abrasive cleaner or specific grout cleaner and a small nylon brush can produce very good results, and give you a better starting point for your grout renewing project.
MATCH YOUR COLOR
Using the Color Match Guide on the back of this sheet, add the appropriate mixing colors to the white base compound, using the enclosed spatula. Add a very small amount of color at a time, thoroughly mix, and check color against the grout you are trying to match. For most grout, a small amount of brown, yellow, and/or black color mixed into the white base compound will produce the most common beige, tan, biscuit, almond, or gray grout colors.
APPLY THE MIXED COMPOUND
Moisten the Sponge Applicator, squeezing out excess water from the sponge while still leaving it somewhat damp. Dab the sponge applicator into your mixed compound, and brush the compound onto the grout. It is okay if excess gets on the tile; as you work, simply clean off excess with a damp paper towel before it dries. Try a small area first; if your color match is not satisfactory, adjust your compound using the intermix colors and try again. Continue the process to recolor all stained grout, wiping off excess from the tile as you go. Allow to dry overnight before walking on, showering in, or otherwise using the area you have re-colored.
SEAL YOUR TILE & GROUT
As is recommended by most tile and grout manufacturers, we recommend that you re-seal your tile and grout using an appropriate water-based sealing product. Sealing your tile and grout will not only help prolong the life of your re-color job, but will help to prevent further staining from hard water, mildew, etc.

| Q: Do these kits really work?
A: Absolutely! Our repair compound is specially formulated to produce the best possible results for the home user. For best results, we highly recommend you practice doing several repairs using the provided test piece of vinyl before trying the actual repair.
Q: Is it hard to match the colors in the kit to my leather or vinyl material?
A: As with any DIY project, practice makes perfect. The more you practice before attempting the actual repair, the better your results are likely to be. We've included a comprehensive color matching guide with every kit to help guide you to a near-perfect color match. However, the final match is up to you. Once you think you have your best possible match, we recommend you apply it to a small, inconspicuous area of the material you need to repair. For example, the underside of a leather couch cushion, or the inside leather overlap of a leather jacket. Testing your color match first in this way will help ensure you're satisfied with your color match on the actual repair.
Q: Are these the same kits that I've seen on As-Seen-On-TV Commercials for years? Are they made by the same manufacturer?
A: No. While our product is sold through some As-Seen-On-TV vendors, we are an independent manufacturer who has developed improved formulas for low-cost DIY repair solutions versus what has previously been available from the original "As-Seen-On-TV" manufacturer. |
